The Government of the Netherlands has announced a generous pledge of support to JLICA.
The Dutch authorities have committed an initial €300,000 to the Initiative’s work, with the possibility of additional subsequent support. The announcement was made on 17 August 2006 by Paul Bekkers, the Netherlands’ Ambassador for HIV/AIDS, during a speech to the JLICA satellite session at the International AIDS Conference in Toronto, Canada. In his address, Bekkers underscored the urgent need for coordinated action on behalf of children affected by HIV/AIDS, and praised the timeliness of the Joint Learning Initiative and its commitment to mobilize knowledge for concrete advances in policymaking and program implementation.
