Learning Group 3 Co-Chair Dr. Lydia Mungherera represented JLICA in this summit on March 13-15, 2007. The event brought together a select group of the world’s leading advocacy experts on children and HIV/AIDS. During the two-day conference, participants worked together to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive joint advocacy action plan whose aim is to raise the profile of children and HIV/AIDS issues internationally. The advocacy efforts emerging from the summit give are guided by the “Four P’s” of UNICEF’s “Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS” campaign: Prevent mother-to-child transmission; Provide pediatric treatment; Prevent infection among adolescents and young people; and protect and support children affected by HIV/AIDS through comprehensive social protection programs that reach children in their families and communities, without stigma.
