Dr. Agnes Binagwaho to co-chair PEPFAR Implementers Meeting in Rwanda.

JLICA's Dr. Agnes Binagwaho will co-chair the upcoming meeting of PEPFAR (the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) with Ambassador Mark Dybul, the US Global AIDS Coordinator, on June 16-19, 2007 in Kigali, Rwanda. Upwards of 1500 delegates are expected to attend. The theme is "Scaling Up Through Partnerships."

Goals of the meeting are to share lessons learned during the implementation of multisectoral HIV/AIDS programs, with a focus on scale-up of prevention, treatment and care programs, building local capacity, quality, and coordination among partners; to catalyze an open dialogue about the future of HIV/AIDS programs while emphasizing implementation; and to impact HIV/AIDS program implementation in the coming year through lessons learned and best practices.
